“Our paradise! Fantastic view over town and harbour. Situated in a beautiful garden with flowers and fruit. Far from the crowded tourist areas. The staff is the best, from clean ladies to the receptionist, Ronio. Ronio knows everything about Madeira and helps you to find excursions and Levada walks all over the island. Marina, the owner, is like a mother to us all, caring and friendly. We can highly recommend Quinta Mãe dos Homens.”

“It’s the most peaceful place I’ve ever been. When I arrived and walked into the grounds, I felt it was so peaceful. I always sleep well. I think it’s ideal for elderly who are not so capable of getting around now, suits me down to the ground, I love seeing the boats coming in to the marina from the villa under ‘my banana tree’. Now, when I go there with my daughter and her friend, it is the most tranquil part of my life.“

“We travel a lot, but Quinta Mãe dos Homens was one of the best accomodation we have ever been to. An oasis of peace just up the hill from Funchal center. The apartment was cozy and had everything we needed, especially a strong wifi signal. 😉 We loved having our meals in the balcony, looking over the garden. The common area of the patio and the pool are perfect to read a book, have a swim and overall relax. You can work there too. We just loved everything about this place and Marina, the property owner, was very kind and welcoming.”

“It’s like a retreat from everyday life. We aim to come to the Quinta every 6 months – we’ve never found another place that inspired that kind of response. The swimming pool is so different from any other hotel pool – it’s always quiet and everybody respects each other’s space. It’s nearby everything that one needs to visit – shops, sights, scenery … The staff are always there with local information that is not necessarily included in guidebooks. Everyone is pleasant, discreet, and friendly & very welcoming.”
